Most foreign nationals need a work permit to work in Canada. Canada grants Work Permits to temporary foreign workers who may be eligible for:
1) Employer Specific Work Permit
This type of work permit allows applicants to work in Canada according to the conditions listed on the work permit.
To apply for Employer Specific Work Permit, Canadian Employer must provide:
• Copy of Employment Contract/Job Offer
• Copy of LMIA
• An offer of Employment Number (for LMIA)
2) Open Work Permit
An Open Work Permit allows applicants to work for any Employer in Canada except for few prohibited occupations and the list of Employers who failed to comply with the conditions.
Applicants may be eligible for few of following Open Work Permits:
• Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)
For International students who graduated from Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs)
• Applied for Permanent Residence in Canada
• Are the spouse or common law partner of a skilled worker or International student.
